The seven-year-old girl Virsaviya ‘Bathsheba’ Borun-Goncharova is one of a kind. She was born with a very rare condition called thoraco-abdominal syndrome or Pantalogy of Cantrell which causes defects involving the diaphragm, abdominal wall, pericardium, heart and lower sternum.
Because of this condition Virsaviya was born with her heart not inside her rib cage where it will be protected but outside, just under the skin. Her heart can be seen beating under a thin layer of skin. But despite her condition, Virsaviya, who was born in Russia, lives her life just like any other 7-year-old girl, she’s very active and is into dancing and drawing.
Virsaviya, is very fragile but she does not allow that to stop her from enjoying life as a kid.
“When I’m getting dressed, I put soft clothes on to not hurt my heart. I walk around, I jump, I fly, I run, I’m not supposed to run but I love running,” she told BBC.
Virsaviya is featured in BBC’s Dr Weston’s Casebook, you watch the preview below.
